Aggie Jumpstart is a free summer bridge program designed to help incoming NMSU students build confidence, strengthen math or English skills, and start college on the right foot. Whether you’re commuting or living on campus, Jumpstart provides structured academic support, mentoring, and hands-on guidance to help you successfully transition into your first semester.

Who is eligible to apply?
Incoming Fall 2026 NMSU Main Campus students from any major who want a strong start in college and who place into CCDM 114 or CCDE 110.
What does "must place into CCDM 114 orCCDE 110" mean?
It means your math or English placement results indicate CCDM 114 for Math and CCDE 110 for English. If you're unsure, please reach out, and we will help confirm your placement.
How do I know if I placed into CCDM 114 or CCDE 110
Your placement is determined through NMSU placement tools. If you are unsure, you can still apply and select "Not sure" on the application. Program staff will help confirm your placement.
What if I do not place into CCDM 114 or CCDE 110?
Students who do not place into CCDM 114 or CCDE 110 may not be eligible for Aggie Jumpstart. If your placement changes or you are unsure, contact the program to discuss your options.
Can I apply if I am undecided about my major?
Yes. Students from all majors are welcome, including those who are undecided.
Is the program really free?
Yes. Aggie Jumpstart is a FREE program. The expectation is full participation and complete commitment to success.
What is included in the program?
The program includes Math or English instruction, academic support, mentoring, workshops, and planned activities. The residential option includes housing and dining. Students who complete the program will also receive a $750 Fall 2026 scholarship.
Do I need to buy textbooks or materials?
No. Required materials are provided as part of the program.
What's the difference between Jumpstart Commuter and Jumpstart Residential?
Jumpstart Commuter is commuter-focused and designed to fit around work and family schedules. Jumpstart Residential offers a residential option with a more immersive college experience.
Will I be able to improve my math or English placement for Fall 2026?
Yes. Students will have the opportunity to increase their math or English placement for Fall 2026.
Is attendance required?
Yes. Aggie Jumpstart requires full participation. Students are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and activities.
What happens if I miss a day?
Because the program is short and intensive, absences can impact your success. If an emergency occurs, you must communicate with program staff as soon as possible. Students who miss more than two days will be excused from the program.
Can I work during Aggie Jumpstart?
Students in the program may work part-time, but schedules must allow full participation.
Do I have to live on campus?
Only students in Aggie Jumpstart II who have a fall housing assignment will live on campus. All early move-in fees and meal plan is covered by the program.
What if I do not have transportation?
Students must provide their own transportation. If transportation is a concern, please indicate this on your application. Program staff will work with students to identify options when possible.
Is parking provided?
Students will need to purchase a parking pass or use the parking meters.
How will I know if I am accepted?
Accepted students will receive an email with the next steps and required forms.
Can I decline my spot after being accepted?
Yes, but students should notify the program as soon as possible so that another student may be offered the opportunity.
What support is available after the summer program ends?
Aggie Jumpstart students continue to receive support, mentoring, and connections during their entire time at NMSU.
