Who is eligible to apply?

Incoming Fall 2026 NMSU Main Campus students from any major who want a strong start in college and who place into CCDM 114.

What does "must place into CCDM 114" mean?

It means your math placement results indicate CCDM 114. If you're unsure, please reach out, and we will help confirm your placement.

How do I know if I placed into CCDM 114

Your placement is determined through NMSU placement tools. If you are unsure, you can still apply and select "Not sure" on the application. Program staff will help confirm your placement.

What if I do not place into CCDM 114?

Students who do not place into CCDM 114 may not be eligible for Aggie Jumpstart. If your placement changes or you are unsure, contact the program to discuss your options.

Can I apply if I am undecided about my major?

Yes. Students from all majors are welcome, including those who are undecided.

Is the program really free?

Yes. Aggie Jumpstart is a FREE program. The expectation is full participation and complete commitment to success.

What is included in the program?

The program includes instruction, academic support, mentoring, workshops, and planned activities. The residential option includes housing and dining.

Do I need to buy textbooks or materials?

No. Required materials are provided as part of the program.

What's the difference between Jumpstart I and Jumpstart II?

Jumpstart I is commuter-focused and designed to fit around work and family schedules. Jumpstart II offers a residential plus commuter option with a more immersive college experience.

Will I be able to improve my math placement for Fall 2026?

Yes. Students will have the opportunity to increase their math placement for Fall 2026.

Is attendance required?

Yes. Aggie Jumpstart requires full participation. Students are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and activities.

What happens if I miss a day?

Because the program is short and intensive, absences can impact your success. If an emergency occurs, you must communicate with program staff as soon as possible. Students who miss more than two days will be excused from the program.

Can I work during Aggie Jumpstart?

Students in the program may work part-time, but schedules must allow full participation.

Do I have to live on campus?

Only students in Aggie Jumpstart II who have a fall housing assignment will live on campus. All early move-in fees and meal plan is covered by the program.

What if I do not have transportation?

Students must provide their own transportation. If transportation is a concern, please indicate this on your application. Program staff will work with students to identify options when possible.

Is parking provided?

Students will need to purchase a parking pass or use the parking meters.

How will I know if I am accepted?

Accepted students will receive an email with the next steps and required forms.

Can I decline my spot after being accepted?

Yes, but students should notify the program as soon as possible so that another student may be offered the opportunity.

What support is available after the summer program ends?

Aggie Jumpstart students continue to receive support, mentoring, and connections during their entire time at NMSU.
