Cecilia Mendez

Student Program Coordinator, Sr.

Cecilia oversees the mentoring programs on campus for three scholarship initiatives, including the Chase Foundation Mentoring Program, the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation Mentoring Program, and the Simon Foundation Mentoring Program.

She is a proud alumnus of New Mexico State University, where she earned Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Spanish, along with Minors in Child Advocacy Studies and Forensic Psychology. She also earned dual Master’s degrees in both Social Work and Public Health.

Nathan Trevizo

Student Program Coordinator, Sr.

Nathan oversees mentoring programs on campus for the Daniels Scholar Success Program and the Aggie Thrive Program. He asissts with the management of the Financial Literacy platform- Smarter Finance and our Student Success Workshop Series and Outreach Requests. 

Nathan is proud graduate of Oñate High School and an alumnus of New Mexico State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Government with a minor in Journalism. He is passionate about helping students realize their full potential and navigate college life with confidence and support. NMSU played a significant role in shaping who he is and it’s an honor to give back by serving the next generation of Aggies.

Vanessa oversees mentoring programs for the Aggie Thrive Program and the Daniels Fund Boundless Opportunity Scholars Program. She assists with the coordination of the Student Success Workshops Series, Graduate Student Success Workshop Series, the Pistol Pete Academic Success Fair and Outreach requests.

Vanessa is a proud alumnus of New Mexico State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Vanessa has spent many years working with students at NMSU through grant-funded programs focused on student success. She is passionate about supporting students throughout their academic journey.

James Hall

James Hall

Associate Director

James has devoted more than 35 years to advancing intercollegiate athletics administration and student-athlete academic success. Over his distinguished career at Iowa State University, The Ohio State University, and New Mexico State University, he has mentored and guided more than 5,000 collegiate student-athletes. During his almost 20-year tenure within New Mexico State athletics, all 16 athletic teams achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for an astonishing 20 years - 40 consecutive semesters.
